and Documentation Department
The Research and Documentation Department is part of the General Secretariat of the Belgian Federal Public Service Finance. Since the first of January 2003 "Federal Public Service Finance", in short "FPS Finance" is the new name of the former federal Ministry of Finance. The General Secretariat has a supporting and coordinating function with regard to the Tax Administrations and the other Administrations of the Federal Public Service Finance. The tasks of the Research and Documentation Department mainly consist of documentation, analysis and advice in the policy areas of the Federal Public Service Finance, in particular public finance, with an emphasis on the economic aspects of bugetary and tax policy. The Research and Documentation Department is also in charge of the Secretariat of the High Council of Finance. This implies that the reports and opinions of the High Council of Finance are prepared by the staff of the Research and Documentation Department. Moreover the Research and Documentation Department publishes the yearly Tax Survey (and some other periodicals which are only available in Dutch and French) and is in charge of the Central Library of the Federal Public Service Finance.
